Dear Lord, I knew you heard me,
When I prayed for a special friend.
I needed someone to love me,
And, stand beside me to the end.
They had to give me all their time,
And listen when I wanted to talk.
They had to ride bikes and go fishing,
And, write on the sidewalk with chalk.
They needed to bake pies and cookies,
Mend dolls and fix my toy gun.
They needed to sing me to sleep,
And whisper, "I love you Hon".
Dear Lord, you heard my prayer,
And you answered it with love.
My special friend was a Grandparent,
Sent all the way from Heaven above.
