Growing up there was nothing
Quite like sitting at your knee,
Listening to your deep voice
While you told us a story.

You made each day so special
Telling us adventures of old;
Sometimes of daring pirates and
Their treasure boxes filled with gold!

You were such a wonderful father and
Also a great friend to me!
I sure did learn a lot over the years
Just a-sitting there at your knee!
