One beautiful sunny day
I saw her fluttering by
Her beauty… Beyond compare.
I wanted to possess her
To gaze upon whenever I wanted.

I grabbed a net with which to capture her
I came so close but then she would fly away
She always seemed just beyond my reach
My net was useless
How could I have thought I could obtain her

Exhausted, I gave up and sat down in the shade
I closed my eyes trying to remember her radiance
It was then that she delicately lit upon my hand
Her wings slowly fluttering

Her beauty was mine to admire all along
She came to me… No net was required
Free to fly to display her beauty to the entire world
Yet she chose to brighten my world
If only for a moment in time

Forever My Butterfly
